So Jenny and I bought a house together this week. We closed on tuesday, and our adopted puppy Dakota is out of the slammer and in the back yard now where she belongs.

We've been looking for awhile. When we first started the market had just started to soften. Then like Allen Greenspan's icecream cone dropped on summer day, it full on melted. Jenny and I looked at well over 300 houses. usually 8 to 10 a weekend. We have a fantastic real estate agent. Hit me up if you want her info- she was awesome. She saved us from some bad properties. We watched the whole shebang collapse in slow motion. For 6 months we never saw anyone else looking. Then, come april, it all changed. We'd visit a house. While we were there, two or three other people would breeze through too. The day we put our offer in, one house had 14 people at it when we first passed by. Three hours later, there was still a constant parade through the place.

Made 7 offers through the process. First one was for 400k. then 360. then 325.
Glad we didnt get any of those, since lucky number seven netted us a great house, big back yard in Lake Balboa for 290k. Where's lake balboa you ask? why, its a fancy way of saying "the valley".

We basically rode the market down like the cowboy rode the A Bomb down at the end of dr Strangelove.

I will tell you what. Buying a house with your girlfriend is very similar to getting married. If maybe not more serious.

You stand in front of a notary, which is like a wedding clerk.
"does anyone here (from the FHA) feel that these two people should not be joined in holy borrowing? speak now, or forever hammer them when they try to refinance..."

You sign a bunch of papers pledging undying support and credit for each other,
and just like at a wedding there are a bunch of psalms and legal notices read aloud to you that make no sense whatsoever-
"and the assessor went forth, and did see your property, and did pronounce the easement from thy neighbors driveway is true, and lawful"-

and then at the end, the notary says
"I now Pronounce you Joint Tenant and Joint Tenant. You may now kiss your life savings goodbye."

We're going to go celebrate this weekend by seeing Cirque Berzerk! They've added a bunch of shows. Here's the details, and if you come on sunday, buy Jenny and I a drink, since we spent all our money on a house.

Saturdays - 7:00pm/10:00pm
Sunday - 8:00pm

Can't wait to see all your beautiful faces under the big top with us - and save us a dance for the best band ever - Vaud and the Villians making us shake our carnie booties in the cirque berzerk booze hall!

Now don't be one of those that puts of getting your tickets just 'cuz you know you have more time now......I simply don't have time to come over and comfort you when your crying your bleeding eyes out from missing the best show in LA - it's not pretty.
