So I'm learning a lot about the party permit process in Los Angeles.

Application permit fee, check. Building and safety permit, check. fire marshall permit check. Dance permit- che --what?

WHAT IS THIS?!?! WE HAVE TO HAVE A PERMIT TO DANCE??? ARE WE IN FOOTLOSE THE MOVIE??
Really? a permit to dance.
really.

Man, the things I do for you to have a good night out.
Its fun! Kafka would be proud of our local bureaucrats. Three different groups, all waiting on information from each other to sign off on the
permits, archaic laws aimed at hookers that now oddly apply to dancing to electronica...

Seriously fun stuff.


Back in the 1920's guys used to go to these dances. At the dances, young ladies of ill repute would dance with the men. When the man found a girl he liked, they would leave the party to go partake in the worlds oldest profession. The dance party was basically a ruse to get guys together with the working girls.

Solution? Make it a requirement that there be dance permits at these kinds of parties. that way you can bust people for "dancing" if they dont have a permit.

Cut to 2010. You want to play some bumping music at a one off party? Still got to get a dance permit.
or its a PRIVATE PARTY, right... and you can't charge at the door.

Anyway, long story short, I have the permits, but I have to have the ticket area at a different place than the event itself.

****SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS! PLEASE READ!!******

On saturday, go downtown and park in the 1900 block area of South Los Angeles St. You can park in front of 
the south LA Highschool, or anywhere on the streets around there. There is very little homeless presence in this area. 

After you park, you will need to pick up your tickets at CASITAS MOTEL at the end of the block- los angeles and 23rd st. 
The ticket pickup location and the event location are on the same block, a 2 minute walk from each other.
After you get your presale tickets or buy tickets at Casitas motel, walk up the street to building 65 to the actual party.

WHY DO WE HAVE TO GO DOWN THE STREET TO BUY OR PICK UP THE PRESALE TICKETS?
Our permit allows us to do a private party. We cannot take money at the door at a private party. 
So, we have to have a separate place nearby where you can either buy a ticket,  or if you've purchased presales, 
pick up your ticket to the event. It's a minor hassle, but it means we are fully complying with our permits.
