Decom Afterparty - Homecoming
So, I've got a lot to talk about. Quite a few things are in the works / have happened since the last time I posted / mailed. It's been quite a while. I just looked @ the date my last message was sent. It was in April. Jesus fucking Christ! April!? Let's face it, I've been a bad, bad promoter / list holder-upper & I bet you thought your favorite / only trans-dimensional gravitational-gathering invisible-mattered friend fell off the face of the earth, right? Well, I'm still here, just laying low (as you can catch from the title). I've made it out to a couple staggered events here & there in the past four or five months, but nothing major. So here's the story...
First things first. The L.A. Decom Afterparty - Homecoming is going to be absolutely bonkers. Hipgenesis & Ninjaskillz are coming together once again to create an awesome event. I'm sure most of you have been to an event where we've collaborated with our ninja brosefs (thank Saynt for that OC term), so you know how off the hook it ends up being. There've been at least a half dozen of collaborative events between us & they always end up amazing me. Yeah, I've been hanging back from the scene, but it's HG & NS! How could I not spin here!?
There are a bunch of extras besides just the great music & awesome deco and we have shuttles running to and from Decom all night long. It's so simple to be there, so don't think, just do it. You'll already be at Decom, right? So just hop on the vans that ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS ARE FUNNELING INTO and come top off your night. The damned shindig's going until 7am, too.
There are going to be a ton of great DJ's there. The usual suspects, Wolfie, Saynt, Blue, Zak Brown, Yona, 20 Meat (great tunes, btw from this guy), meself, Hyjinx, & others will be there. Oh, and did I mention John Kelley will be playing!? Seriously, we've got just about every type of music being played at this event besides Mark Zabala's favorite, freeform hardcore (thank god!). Speaking of Mark Zabala, he's playing right after Saynt & right before me (I play 2am-3am) in the secondary room. Check him out. I don't know how he does it, but his tracks make me have a seizure sometimes.
Unfortunately, Porter Tinsley's favorite DJ, Sam(antha) Ronson, won't be performing that night. It's okay, Porter, you don't have to thank me for the free publicity to her ;-)
Bottom line, get on the shuttles. You can thank me on Tuesday when you're done being cracked out. Details @ the bottom of the letter

Laying Low & Redefining Sound
So, on to the reason I've been on the down low lately. I'm (finally) starting to produce my own tracks. It's about time, right? I was at a house party a few weeks ago and my friend & all around cool-guy Saynt asked me where I've been at. Before I could even finish my sentence, he says "You've been redefining the darkMatter sound, haven't you?" Heh. I've been trying to, that's for sure. Not to get too personal, but I moved out here from NY to do this whole music thing. I want to make something of it. That's where production comes in.
I know Wolfie, Saynt, & several others from our group of artists are moving into production right now. I think we all came to the same conclusion about the same time and said "I want to get my sound out there." Yeah, we play tracks that move us, but we want to make tracks that move others. By the way, anyone who says production is easy is a bullshitter! This is tough stuff! I'm hoping to have a couple tracks for y'all dancin' freaks by the end of the year. And hold no punches, please tell me what you think of them when I release 'em.
Also, I've got a new website in the works. Phooka (Art), also a Hipgenesis member, and one of the most artistically creative geniuses I know, is creating it. He did the Hipgenesis site. If you like the look of it & if you like mine when it comes out, get in touch with him & send him some business. He's extremely easy to work with & can create just about anything you have your mind set on.

Health Shout Out
On a bit of a side note, Porter Tinsley sent a shout out to Elements Total Healthcare (Dr. Roxy Han & Dr. Chris Souders) a few days ago and I thought this was a great idea.
From about January to August (8 months), I was dealing with really bad headaches every single day. I found out I have spinal arthritis & degenerative bone & disc disorder (stupid genetics) and my headaches were from pinched nerves in my neck. It's pretty bad stuff & basically means that my back is totally fucked.
I was going to the chiropractor about 2-3 times a week for 3 months & doing all sorts of treatments. Nothing helped & I thought I was going to have to have surgery. Then I talked to Roxy Han. Without even stuttering, she says "Yeah, I can totally get rid of that." I'm thinking "Yeah, okay. Acupuncture, huh?" being the skeptic that I am.
I got treated by Roxy 4 times and haven't had a headache since! GO TO ELEMENTS! THEY WILL HELP YOU! At least call them & see if they can do something for you.
And they're running $45 dollar first time visit promotions right now.

So, that's my story. That's what I've been up to. I hope all of my fantastic friends are doing well and don't count me out, because I'll be coming back stronger than ever. Hope to see you at Homecoming!
